The names known in the industry include Bibi Black, Emmylou Harris, Sonny James, and Tommy Shaw.
Alabama (Country/Western)
If you check out the country music history, you will find Alabama in one of the pages. The group was formed by three cousins namely Randy Owen, Teddy Gentry and Jeff Cook. Their music was all the rage in the 1980s. It all started after the group appeared in the Country Music New Faces show. At the end of the 80s, Alabama had 27 number one singles, 7 multi-platinum albums, and topped the pop charts for nine times. They gathered numerous awards such as the Academy of Country Music’s Artist of the Decade for the 80s.
Nat “King” Cole (Jazz)
Who would have thought that when mother Perlina taught her son Nathaniel Adams Cole to play the piano when he was twelve she was making history happen? King was a part of musical groups before he ventured out on his own. Some of his groups were Royal Dukes, The Rogues of Rhythm, and Nat Cole Swingsters which changed its name to King Cole Trio. His performances with the group introduced him as a good vocalist but that did not compare to the crowd’s recognition of his talent as a jazz pianists. In fact, if you ask critics to name one of the most remarkable talents in jazz, Nat King Cole will surely be mentioned.
Lionel Richie (Pop)
Lionel Richie was no stranger to the music industry. He was once a part of the famous Commodores before he began making awards on his own. His debut solo single entitled Truly won him the Best pop Male Vocal Performance Award in the Grammy. That launched a career full of many awards and recognitions. He had several collaborations with the bigwigs of the industry like Marvin Gaye, Dian Ross, and Michael Jackson.
